
I can understand very well why non-native speakers of English make the mistake of thinking that for instance the word "cat" is pronounced more or less like the word "cut". The first letter of the alphabet, A, means something else to a Finn or an Italian than it does to an Englishman. I have no problem with that.
But why do people say "country" as if it were "cantry" or "truck" as if it were track? Where does that come from? Please, enlighten me, if you cun ... oops, I mean can.
